Crème Brûlée French Toast

It’s Christmas morning and we need something that’s easy to cook up for a crowd, festive enough to befit the holiday, but fast enough that you’re not going to spend the morning over a hot stove. Behold, the custardy soft center and crisp, caramelized brown sugar topping of Creme Brûlée French Toast!

The greatest part is it actually soaks overnight for best results, so all you have to do is pop it in the oven in the morning and watch your family go bananas. Actually, there are no bananas in this dish, but I bet that would be an amazing addition — just mash them up and throw in with the custard. But most importantly: never walk away from the broiler!!! Or your toast will be charcoal and you will be eating cereal for breakfast.

Anyway, make it — you’ll love it!

Fudgy Chocolate Banana Flax Muffins

Delicately sweet, wrapper-licking-good muffins that eat like a tender brownie with plenty of healthy twists! When I first created this recipe for my cookbook Relish in 2013, I was so excited for a fast breakfast I could take on-the-go that packed fiber and good fats into something with so much yummy chocolate flavor. Eight years on, the best part is that my kids LOVE them, too!

Banana Nut Oatmeal Waffles

Let’s turn banana nut oatmeal into… golden brown WAFFLES! This is one of my favorite tried-and-true healthy breakfast recipes. I love the play of the crispy, lacy edges and that pillowy, warm, delicious, center. Plus, they’re loaded with fiber, protein, and a little healthy fat to fuel you all day. Kids eat ‘em up, but not if parents get there first! And if you don’t feel like making the date caramel, they’re sweet all on their own.

Eggs Puttanesca

Move over, over easy. Make room for softly simmered, jammy eggs bathed in a saucy mix of tomato, peppers, onions, capers and olives (and a little wine!). Top with a sprinkle of Parmesan or Pecorino cheese, a few torn basil leaves, and you’ll be ready to say Buongiorno!

Nut Butter Smoothie

This super healthy smoothie is perfect for mornings when I need something fast and filling but have no time to cook.

Gorgeous Skin-Boosting Pancakes

Delicious, healthy food is the foundation for me, and I’ve always seen that my skin looks its best when I’m taking care of it with a combination of nutrition, supplements to give me a little extra where I need it, and amazing skincare for more immediate results.

This is one of my favorite unconventional beauty-boosting recipes — easy, delicious, protein-, fiber-, and superfood-packed gluten free pancakes!

Chocolate Banana Bread

We’re doing chocolate banana bread, Domestic Goddish-style, y’all! Fudgy, chocolatey, banana deliciousness. You’ve had banana bread… banana bread with nuts… even banana bread with chocolate chips. But have you ever had chocolate banana bread with chocolate chips??? We think not. Give your next brunch party (or breakfast tomorrow!) a little flair.

Lazy Lady Apple Crisp

It’s time to talk about the truth: I hate apple pie. There, I said it. Shame me if you must but recognize that everything you love about the IDEA of apple pie – juicy, melting apples, tender flaky crust, aromas fragrant with cinnamon and fall spices – occurs in 1 out of every 1,000,000 pies. Fact.

Meanwhile, just about anyone can achieve kitchen glory with LAZY LADY APPLE CRISP. It has all the same sweet-tart apple goodness, but it also has an oatmeal pecan cookie crumble topping that – in addition to being 1000x easier than crust to make – is, frankly, also way more delicious.

Toss your old love goodbye and give this lady a whirl.

Coconut Pecan Granola

I love granola and I LOVE coconut. This version combines coconut in every form for a toasty, caramel note that is pretty indulgent. I wanted to experiment with using coconut sugar (it is less refined and therefore has more minerals and fiber than granulated sugar, but they’re not all that different unfortunately – so go ahead and use regular sugar if that’s all you have, or take out the water and use honey or maple syrup instead!). You can go heavier on the sweetener if you want to, but this particular ratio satisfies my sweet tooth without being so sugary that I feel like I’m eating oatmeal cookies for breakfast.

I especially love this version because it is fruit-free. It’s easy enough to add fruit into it after it is baked if you want – I sometimes fold in some dried mulberries or chopped dates – but I love how buttery rich this blend is with all the different nuts alone.

This granola can (and should!) be enjoyed on its own. But if you use it to top yogurt (or ice cream), you’ll notice what was once crispy and crunchy takes on a wonderful toffee-like chew.
